My Story

My name is Ntokozo "Lily" Bophela — a Marketing Professional, Experienced DJ, and Stage 3B Cervical Cancer Survivor from Johannesburg, South Africa.

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 3B cervical cancer. Not Stage 1, not early stage — Stage 3B. I went through diagnosis, treatment, the fear, the silence, and the long road back to myself, my community, and the music I love.

On 18 July 2026 — Mandela Day — The Victory Concert, a cancer awareness fundraiser, took place at Mea Culpa, Johannesburg, in partnership with CANSA. 67 Minutes of Victory over Cancer.

I have been invited to speak at the National Cancer Registry Wellness Day at Wits, sharing my journey from diagnosis to triumph with women across South Africa.

Today I use my platform to raise awareness about cervical cancer affecting women, to encourage open conversations, and to show that survival is not just possible — it is the beginning of a new chapter.
